About Oak Hollow Sailing Club
Oak Hollow Sailing Club was organized in 1974, in cooperation with the City of High Point Parks and Recreation Department. It was established and has continued as a non-profit public club with the mission to “promote and enjoy the sport of sailing.” A significant part of our mission is to teach sailing basics to our new members who have never sailed, or who have had limited experience with the sport.
Oak Hollow Sailing Club holds scheduled activities from April until November each year. Activities include monthly regattas, training and teaching days, social outings, camp and sail weekends, Community Sailing “Fun Days”, participation in an annual inter-club regatta with Lake Townsend Yacht Club, and an end-of-the-year banquet and awards ceremony in November.
Our members sail many different types of sailboats ranging from 12 to 20 feet in length. Boat types include Sunfish, catamarans, tri-hulls, wind surfers, and many different models of mono-hull sailboats. You do NOT have to own a boat and you do NOT have to have sailing experience to join. Many of our current members joined in order to learn to sail.
Please explore the rest of our website (especially pictures in our Photo Gallery), and also visit us on our Facebook page at “Oak Hollow Sailing Club,” but most importantly, come and visit us in person during one of our events. Our events are held at the Oak Hollow North Marina, 3700 Waterview Road, High Point, NC, 27265 (at the very end of Waterview Road).
If you would like to learn to sail, let us teach you! If you already know how, come and join the fun!
Sincerely,
Mike Vitamvas
